Introduction
J & K State Science, Tehnology & Innovation Council endeavors to harness the potential of science & technology as instrument of socio-economic change and strives to ensure that efforts in science & technology are not only restricted to scientific laboratories and academic institutions but percolate to the grass root, so that science, technology and innovation increasingly become part of the every day life of our State.
State Science, Technology & Innovation Council through the operation of various schemes conducts Science Popularization programmes like Children Science Congress, Brain Storming Sessions, Extension Lectures, Publication of Popular Science Magazine, conducts Science Talent Promotion Tests, Confers awards to young scientists, provides fellowships/assistance to scientists, sponsors research projects for the development of scientific temper and overall development of the State. S&T Council has set up Genetic Counseling and Research Centres at Govt. medical College, Jammu/University of Jammu and SKIMS, Srinagar for detection and counseling of patients suffering from various genetic disorders.
